Dear Nathan,
December is here! This is one of my favorite months. I love being all cozy in the house and looking at our Christmas tree. I am looking forward to the holidays this year. I can't wait to give you your gifts on Christmas morning.
All in all, not much has changed since last month. You are still a really rowdy toddler! You love climbing and throwing things. You love playing with the dog on the floor. You have learned one new trick. You can scoot the chairs over the table and climb up there! You really scare me when you do that! You are up so high and I'm nervous that you will fall down. It has happened a couple of times and it is not so much fun. You cry and cry and then go right back to it! You are still really cranky most of the time. You have a lot of teeth coming in now and you are really in pain. Every night around bedtime you just start crying. It makes us so sad to hear you upset. I am really hoping that these teeth come in quickly. I can't figure out exactly how many you have coming in because you won't let me look in there. My last count was 6, but it could be more. Poor little guy. I do want to tell you that you have been such a great support to me this past month. Mama and Daddy are trying to have a little brother or sister for you, and it isn't going so well right now. Mama is upset and cries a lot and you always comfort me. You know when I am feeling sad and you try to make it all better. My little hero.
I love you so much Nathan. You mean the world to me. You always have. And you always will.

Letter to my eighteen month old boy....
Dear Nathan,
November is here and today you are 18 months old!!! A year and a half has gone by so quickly. It seems like just last week was your birthday party! You are just growing up so fast, I see parts of the sweet little baby changing into the fun toddler every day.
You are around 32 inches tall and 27lbs. You are so active and rambunctious. You love to climb. You have learned to pull your car over to the table so that you can climb up. You really enjoy climbing up to the light switches. You think that it is hilarious too see the lights go on and off. You are a very picky eater. Sometimes you like certain foods and the other days you don't. You throw anything that you don't like. It can get pretty messy around here. Thankfully, you are still nursing! 18 months was Mama's original goal and we made it! I am so happy that I could do this for you! Something new this month is your use of a fork. You have really mastered that skill and you now prefer the fork over using your hands. You haven't quite figured out the spoon just yet. Now that colder weather has arrived, you are beginning to go stir-crazy from being in the house. You really love being outside and it is hard to tell you that we can't go. We have been doing other things like going to the KidsZone here in town. It has bounce houses that you really like. You love to jump around and fall down. You still aren't very verbal with us yet. You are constantly talking in your own language and you get frustrated when we don't understand you. You really understand us though. We say "Let's go get Lucy!" and you run back to her crate. We say "Are you thirsty?" and you run over to the fridge. I can't wait until you can tell us what you are wanting. Hopefully soon. Speaking of Lucy, you love her. You have some of your best moments of the day playing with her. You crack up every time she chases you around. This past month was Halloween. You went trick-or-treating for the first time! You were a punk rocker. So cute!
I can't believe that you are 1 and a half! We have such a good time together, you and me. I love playing with you during the day. I love watching you learn new things and be a rough and tumble boy. You are such a cool kid!

Letter to my seventeen month old boy..
Dear Nathan,
October has arrived! Nights are slowly getting cooler. The days are still warm though. October is one of my favorite times of year. Leaves are just starting to change. Such pretty colors already!
You are such a toddler now! You have learned to climb on everything! You are now able to climb on the couch by yourself. You climb from the couch to the table to scare Mama! You love being outside. We go to the park a lot and you enjoy going down the slides. You love it when Mama pushes you in the swing. You have learned to say "cookie". Although it comes out as "cook". It is cute. You go to the pantry and scream "cook". Speaking of screaming, you are truly testing our patience lately. Anything that you don't like, you scream your head off. Crying and throwing yourself on the ground happens at least 100 times a day. This week it has multiplied by a million because you are teething. You are getting three or four of your back molars in. Very stressful around here. I love you all the same though! On to more positive things, you really like spending time with Grandma! You light up when she walks through the door. You are so sweet. Halloween is coming up! We probably won't go trick or treating because you really don't understand that process yet. We have decided to have you go as a "punk rocker". Mama got you a cool shirt and we are going to put your hair in a mohawk! Speaking of hair, Mama and Grandma are taking you to get it cut this week! I am really nervous but I realized that it is probably time. It is getting in your eyes and you hate for Mama to fix it.
And so sweet boy, you are almost one and a half! Where does the time go?! We are looking forward to spending the holidays with you this year. And even though you are throwing yet another tantrum as I type this, I still love you with all my being.

Letter to my 16 month old boy...
Dear Nathan,
September has arrived! The days are slowly getting cooler and the nights are too. Today you are 16 months old!
You are growing and changing each day. It seems like you learn something new all the time. You love to climb on things now! You can climb on the couch, the fireplace, the bathtub, and the swingset. You love climbing on the ladder and the slide out in the backyard. You look so proud of yourself. Mama and Daddy are proud of you too! You have learned to point at what you want. It is adorable. You are showing us what would make you happy now. You love to grab our hands and lead us around the house. You most often lead us to the back door! You want to go outside and play. It is really cute. We are trying to encourage you to use words but you just aren't ready for that yet. You have become a picky eater. You have this thing about eating more than one food at a meal. Whatever you start off eating is what you want. You throw everything else on the floor. It can get pretty messy around here! Speaking of messy, you have become so helpful around the house! You love to clean. You think that the Swiffer is the greatest thing ever. You love to dust too! Mama gives you a dusting towel and you go to town! You may be wondering (when you see pictures of yourself later) why your hair is so long. Everyone keeps telling Mama to cut your hair. But I just can't bring myself to do it. Your hair is so soft and it has the cutest curls at the ends. I don't want to take it away from you. So we are leaving it long for now. I see other toddlers with short haircuts and I think it makes them look so much older. You are still Mama's baby and we are going to keep it that way for awhile.
As another season begins, I realize that the time just flies by. I can't believe that summer is almost over. We have had a great time, you and me. I can't imagine spending my days any other way. You are my best buddy and I love you so much. My heart just can't contain itself.

Letter to my 15 month old boy...
Dear Nathan,
Today you are 15 months old! Time is just racing by. Before we know it, fall will be here! I can't believe that you are already 15 months old. You are getting to be so big!
This past month has been so exciting for us all. The biggest thing has been our move. Mama and Daddy bought a house! And we moved from the house where we brought you home. :( It was such a bittersweet day. On one hand, we knew that we were moving toward a bright future. We were going to a place where you could grow up and run and play. But it was hard to say goodbye to the house where you spent the first year of your life. Your Daddy painted that nursery a week before you were born. We brought you home from the hospital and fell in love with our sweet baby boy in that house. We paced the floor with a fussy newborn. You and I cuddled and nursed for hours on end in our comfy bed. You learned to crawl and took your first steps in that house. So it was hard for us to leave. But we know that our future is in this house. You have made the transition so well. And I really think that you like it here. This past month you have learned some new things! You love to climb on things now! You are always climbing on furniture and in the shower. You are especially fond of our new fireplace. You like to scare Mama by climbing on the bricks. You have learned how to give people things. You are all the time bringing Mama things and you get so excited when I say "Thank you!". You try to bring everyone something. It is really cute. This past month we also went on your first plane ride! We went to Baltimore, Maryland to Zach and Sara's Wedding. We had a great time and you were such a good boy! We also went to visit Grandma Kay and Grandpa John and went to Holiday World with Grandma and Uncles Ben and Tommy! It was so much fun! You did great and really loved it! You love water. You like to pour it and splash around. It is so much fun to watch you enjoy yourself. You just laugh and laugh.
15 months has gone by in the blink of an eye. You are such a toddler now. It is amazing to watch you learn and grow every day. We love you Nathan Cole. You are our world. And we look forward to watching you grow up in our home. We are so proud of you.

Letter to my 14 month old boy...
Dear Nathan,
July has arrived and it is HOT! I can't believe that you are 14 months old! You get so much bigger every day it seems. You seem so much like a toddler now.
This month has been pretty eventful. Unfortunately, you have been very sick for the past week or so. Your poor belly has been upset. Mama and Daddy felt so bad for you. You haven't wanted to do anything but cuddle with Mama and nurse. Thank heaven you are nursing though. Mama knows that you can stay hydrated this way. This past month we have been so busy. We have been traveling back and forth a lot. We went to visit Grandma and Grandpa. You had so much fun! They watched for you while we went to a wedding. It was their first time watching you and you (and them) had a great time. You were a good boy. That was the longest that Mama had been away from you. We also went to the Pride parade! It was a blast and you really enjoyed seeing all the people and floats. We have been traveling back and forth to Shelbyville to look at houses. Thankfully, we found one that we like. We will be moving soon. I hope that you handle the change ok. You also got to see your first fireworks show on the Fourth of July this past month! You loved it! You weren't able to go last year because you were too little. But this year, we kept you awake so that you could see it. It was fun! You had your first dentist appointment this month, it went well and we brush your teeth every night. You don't like that! You have done a lot this month. You walk perfectly now. You say "bye-bye". You shake your head "no".
Thank you so much for being such an amazing boy. You are the light of our lives sweet baby. And even though you are a toddler, you will always be my baby. I love you so much.

Letter to my 13 month old boy....
Dear Nathan,
Today you are 13 months old! This month has gone by so quickly! You have grown and changed. You are learning new things everyday.
You are getting so big! You pretty much walk all the time now. It is rare to see you crawl anymore. You are always walking and sometimes you even try to run! Daddy loves coming home from work because you get so excited and run up to see him. You are also giving kisses now! Mama smacks her lips together for a kiss and you know what to do! Granted, you haven't figured out to close your mouth yet. :) It is so cute. You have also learned to clap! You have fun clapping and cheering when you do something. For the past week or so, you have learned to put the blocks away. Mama will say "Nathan put this block in the bucket." And you do it! Then we all clap for you. You have changed from a baby to a toddler over night! Yesterday, Mama took you to Grandma's house to swim in her baby pool. You had so much fun! I need to set up your pool here. You really like going on walks in your car that great-grandma gave you. You think it is so fun! You are eating like a horse! Daddy calls you our little "Garbage disposal". You love fruit and chicken. You really like mac and cheese and spaghetti! I think you like making a mess with those! You have cut down on your nursing a little bit. Sometimes I think that you are too busy! But you still nurse a lot during the day. Mama is wanting to nurse you until you are 2, so I am sure that you will keep it up!

Letter to my 1 year old boy...
Dear Nathan,
Happy Birthday sweetheart!!!! Today is your very first birthday. One year ago today I was holding you in my arms for the first time.
At one year, you weigh around 25 lbs and are 32 inches tall. This past month you have grown and changed so much! You are now taking steps! You can push up to standing without holding on to anything. Then you take about 8-10 steps before falling over. You walk back and forth between mommy and daddy and the furniture all the time. You are now eating so many more foods! You love bananas and Cheerios. You like macaroni and cheese and you love spaghetti! Mama is just feeding you whatever we have for dinner. You even like tacos! You hardly have baby food anymore. You are getting so big! You still babble to us all the time. You love to say mama and dada and walk towards us. Daddy loves coming home from work because you are so happy to see him. You giggle and race over to see him. You are sleeping a little better, but I still think that we have some improvement to make in that area! You love going for walks in our new carrier. You love just riding on mama's back and looking around. You seem so peaceful back there. You are still nursing all the time. We have been nursing for a year!! Such a huge milestone for mama and you. Your first birthday party is this Saturday! Lots of friends and family are coming. We are very excited! We are also getting family pictures taken on Sunday. Can't wait to get those!
And so big boy, you are 1!!! This past year has been the best of my life. We have such a special bond and I love waking up to your sweet face every morning. From 7lbs 11oz to 25 lbs, you have grown so much. Mama and daddy have grown too; We are much better people because you are in our lives. Letter to my eleven month old boy...
Dear Nathan,
April has arrived and with it comes warmer weather and lots of rain. You are 11 months old today and growing and changing every day.
You are getting to be so big! You still weigh around 25 lbs. But you are so much more active now. You crawl all over the house and pull up on furniture. You walk all around the couches and chairs. You even stand up on your own now and wobble back and forth before falling down. You babble all the time. You love having conversations with yourself. It is so cute! You have shown a preference for "Elmo's World". You love this part of Seseme Street! No matter where you are in the house, you will race back into the living room when you hear the theme song. You are nursing all the time now. At least once an hour you are crawling up into my lap. I think that it is your way of spending time with me and getting that closeness you need. You are going through a stage right now of needing mama all the time. You cry whenever I'm not around and when you can't see me. We are hoping that this stage passes soon so that Daddy can do things for you. I said in my last letter that you were sleeping better, well that stage has passed!! You wake up a lot at night now for some reason. Hopefully we can go back to sleeping good again soon. Since the weather has been nice, we have been going on walks everynight. Mama puts you in the carrier on her back and you love it! You even fall asleep back there sometimes! It is nice to get out of the house with you.
So sweet boy, 11 months have passed. Only one month left until your first birthday. Mama is busy planning your party and getting ready for this big event. I am looking forward to it, but it will be a bittersweet time. Bitter because I can't believe that a year will have passed in the blink of an eye. And sweet because you have graced our lives with joy and light and I am looking forward to all the years to come. I love you so much Nathan Cole!

We are hoping that this stage passes soon so that Daddy can do things for you. I said in my last letter that you were sleeping better, well that stage has passed!! You wake up a lot at night now for some reason. Hopefully we can go back to sleeping good again soon. Since the weather has been nice, we have been going on walks everynight. Mama puts you in the carrier on her back and you love it! You even fall asleep back there sometimes! It is nice to get out of the house with you.
So sweet boy, 11 months have passed. Only one month left until your first birthday. Mama is busy planning your party and getting ready for this big event. I am looking forward to it, but it will be a bittersweet time. Bitter because I can't believe that a year will have passed in the blink of an eye. And sweet because you have graced our lives with joy and light and I am looking forward to all the years to come. I love you so much Nathan Cole!

Letter to my ten month old boy...
Dear Nathan,
March has arrived and spring is right around the corner. I can't wait for the warm weather to return so that we can be outside more often! I want a chance to show you this big, beautiful world we live in. You are ten months old today sweet boy!
You still weigh around 23 pounds. I know that you are getting taller though. You have changed so much within the last month. I can't believe all the new things that you have accomplished. You are now crawling! So life around our house has gotten pretty hectic. Daddy and I have to chase after you all the time now. You are pulling up on furniture too! You love to pull up on the couches and entertainment center. You fall down a lot and cry for mama. But I can normally comfort you pretty quickly and you go right back to it! My brave boy! My favorite thing that you are doing now is crawling clear across the room to get to me, climbing up my leg, and raising your arms so that I will pick you up. It is so cute. You love to get into the cabinets and Lucy's bowl. Mama is getting her exercise! You also got another tooth this past month. You now have three and should be getting your other top tooth shortly. You are sleeping much better at night now! You only wake up one or two times to nurse, so mama is very thankful for that! Speaking of nursing, you still love it! You would rather nurse than eat solid foods and now that you can crawl, you are deciding when you want to nurse! You crawl right over to mama and demand it! It is too cute.

Letter to my nine month old boy...
Dear Nathan,
February has arrived and today you are nine months old. You have grown and changed so much. You are becoming such a little person and you have your own delightful personality.
You currently weigh around 23 pounds, so you are still mama's big boy! In the past month you have done some great new things! You are now moving foward on your belly. You can get across the room in no time flat. You will push up on your hands and knees and rock back and forth. You will be crawling soon. You can now move from the crawling position to the sitting position and vice versa, all on your own. Becoming more mobile means that you are so independent now. Mama can leave you playing on the floor for longer periods of time. You are constantly babbling although you still haven't said "Mama"! That's ok though, saying "dada" is just as cute. You are eating more and more foods now, although you still hate veggies. You love fruits though! You have some oatmeal every evening and you seem to enjoy it. You still love to nurse. Because you are more mobile you can climb your way into my lap and pull at my shirt. It is so cute! You know what you want! Nursing you is the highlight of my day. I love looking at your sweet face and staring into your eyes. Such love and trust in them. Your personality is so laid back. You hardly ever cry. You are so content with hanging out with mama and daddy. You are one cool baby!

Letter to my eight-month old boy...
Dear Nathan,
January and a New Year has arrived and today you are eight months old. So many wonderful things happened in 2007, but are looking forward to the New Year too.
At eight months old you weigh around 22 pounds and are 30 inches tall. You are getting so big! You are off the charts for both weight and height! Mama is so proud. This past month has been so exciting and busy! You had your first Christmas and first New Year! Christmas was so exciting. It was wonderful to see our families and you really enjoyed unwrapping presents. New Year's wasn't as thrilling; we were all in bed by 9. :) Developmentally, you are growing and changing every day! You are finally able to sit by yourself. You still topple over sometimes when you get excited but you enjoy sitting and seeing the world. You have also began to reach for mama! It is so cute and sweet. You will put your hands up when I come near you or you will reach for me when Daddy is holding you. You are still trying to crawl. You are now scooting forward on your belly. You have also started to push up on your hands and knees. Soon enough you will be crawling all over the place! You have also started to eat more solid foods. You love peaches and applesauce. You don't love peas. Just like mama! You enjoy eating now and we try new foods everyday. I think that this is mostly because you got two teeth this past month! We have been waiting on those teeth to pop through!
You have changed so much this past month. It has opened Mama's eyes to how fast time is going. I just can't believe how much you have grown. Of course, Mama's heart has grown just as much. I love you so much sweet boy.

Letter to my seven month old boy...
Dear Nathan,
Today you are seven months old!! This is such a bittersweet day for mama. One year ago today was Noel's due date. Although I know now that she just wasn't meant to come to us yet. I really think that you wanted to be first. And I can't imagine not having you in my life.
You have grown so much! You are still around 21 pounds but I know that you are growing taller. You can sit up for much longer periods of time before falling over. You just get distracted by something behind you and try to reach for it. Mama has learned to surround you with pillows! You have became increasingly frustrated with crawling. You are getting so close! Mama and Daddy work with you every day to try to help you. You will get it soon! This past month has been full of adventures! We took a car trip to Chicago with Daddy. You did so well in the car. Although Mama had to prop herself over the carseat to nurse you while we were driving! That was a funny sight to see. You also had your first Thanksgiving! This month will be equally busy with Christmas coming up. We have so many places to go and people to see. I am sure that you will do great! We have given you some solid foods this past month. Although you aren't really interested. You don't like anything except apple slices. You love to suck and gnaw on those. You would just much rather nurse. Which is fine by me! You are still yelling "dada" all the time. It is so cute. Daddy gets a big smile on his face everytime.

Letter to my six month old boy...
Dear Nathan-
You are 6 months old today! Half a year has come and gone so quickly. It seems like just yesterday that I held you for the first time. Today is a difficult day for mama. Such a bittersweet time.
In six months time you have grown to 20lbs and 28 inches long! You grew out of your infant car seat this month so we had to buy you a new one. You still don't like the car at all! Mama has to ride in the back with you and try to keep you busy with toys. You are starting to sit up better. You seem to get tired of holding yourself up though and just fall over. You have become so frustrated with the crawling situation. You want to crawl so badly! But your poor little arms can't support your weight quite yet. So you have solved the crawling problem by rolling every where! You can roll clear across the room in no time! You still drool all the time. We just aren't sure where your teeth are! You got a new toy for Halloween. It is an exersaucer and you love it! You love to spin all around and jump up and down. You still love nursing. You have invented some new nursing positions this past month! We have started to give you frozen apple slices for you to munch on. You seem to like it. We are going to try solid foods shortly. I have a feeling you won't go for that. You love water though. Mama has been letting you have sips of water from her cup and you love it. You grab onto the cup and guzzle it down! It is too cute. You were baptised yesterday. You did so well! You were so smiley and laughed the whole time. The whole church was amazed at how well you did. And when Gordon said, "I present to you Nathan Cole." You looked at the people and laughed! It was so cute! Mama was so proud.
Saying goodbye at the end of these letters always brings me to tears. My sweet boy is growing so fast. The love I feel for you is so overwhelming. It consumes me daily when I look at you. I often wonder how my heart withstands this much love without bursting. You mean the world to me Nathan Cole. You are my heart and my soul.

Dear Nathan-
October has arrived and you are five months young this month. I know that I say this in all my letters but it seems like time just flies by. I wish that I could just hit 'Pause' but it seems that someone has decided on 'Fast forward' instead.
You weigh about 20lbs. You are still off the charts for your weight. I love looking at your chunky thighs and double chin. They are so cute and it warms my heart to think that you have grown so much on my milk. You still love to nurse. Your face lights up every time. You move around so much when you are nursing now. You like to play with your feet and rub your hands across my skin and face. Sometimes you even like to pinch! Mama is trying to break that habit! You won't stay on your back at all. You roll over as soon as I put you down. You have started to push up on your hands as if you are trying to crawl. You just can't seem to get your legs in on the act. I have a feeling that you will be crawling soon though. We work on sitting up too. You can sit for a few seconds before falling over. It is too cute! I can't wait until you can sit up on your own so that you can see more of the world around you. We bought you some spoons to play with and have been trying to spoon feed you some water. You seem to understand what the spoon is for and you open your mouth wide when you see it coming. Next month we will be trying to feed you some fruits and vegtables. I am so sad that this time is almost here! It means that you won't be getting all your nutrition from me anymore. But I know you will still be nursing like crazy anyway!
And so dear boy, another month has slipped away. Fall is here and the days are chilly and I just keep trying to hold onto time as it races by. I am sure that you will change so much by the time I write you the next letter, but for today, I will just tell you that I love you so much the way you are.

Letter to my Four month old boy....
Dear Nathan-
Today you are four months old!! Time is just racing by. Fall is almost here. The weather is cooling down and the nights are cold. I love this time of year!
You are growing so fast! According to our scale at home, you weigh 19.5 lbs! This past month you have discovered your feet, learned how to roll over, and have found your voice! You babble to us all the time now. I so wish that I could understand what you are saying. You love to yell really loud and then laugh. Sometimes I think that you just yell to hear your own voice. I can't wait until you can say Mama. We think that you are teething now. :( My poor baby. It seems like you are in pain a lot. You are constantly drooling and chewing on anything that you can get your hands on. This has caused you to completely alter your sleeping habits. You wake up every two hours now. Mama is so tired! I feel so sorry for you. I wish that I could take away the pain. Hopefully we will see some teeth soon. On the brighter side, you have stayed with Grandma a couple of times while Mama got out of the house. You have done so well with that! I just wish that we could get you to take a bottle of pumped milk. But you know better! You would much rather nurse! :) Mama was gone for two hours yesterday and I missed you so much! I can't imagine my life without you!

Letter to my 3 month old boy....
Dearest Nathan,
Today you are 3 months old. I can hardly believe how fast time flies. It is amazing to me that you are growing and changing everyday.
You are getting so big! You weigh about 16.5 lbs now. You have wonderfully chunky thighs and a beautiful double chin. People always remark at how big you have gotten. I am so proud of the fact that you get all your nutrition from me. You love nursing so much. You are now popping off mama's breast every so often to look up at me and smile. You now notice so much of the world around you. You look around when are you nursing now. You will also watch mama walk across the room and smile when I get close to you. You like to watch Lucy play on the floor. You talk to Daddy and I all the time. You love bath time! You have just learned how to splash around so you have lots of fun playing in the water.
You are so important to me. I love staying home with you during the day and watching you grow. There is never a moment that goes by that I don't look at you with pure love and amazement. Well, my dear Nathan, you are wanting to nurse now, so I must go. I love you so much sweetie.

Letter to my 2 month old boy
Dear Nathan,
I can hardly believe that you are two months old today. I feel like time has just flown by. Two months ago I was holding you for the first time. I will never forget that moment when I looked down at you and realized that you were apart of me.
The past two months have been full of surprises. You are getting so big! I think you weigh around 13.5 pounds now. I can't wait to have you measured tomorrow. I feel like you have grown a foot! You are starting to smile at mommy and daddy now. I have been trying to catch it on camera, but I have had no such luck yet. You really like it when I give you lots of kisses. Sometimes you even laugh a little bit. You have also been trying to talk to us by cooing. It is so incredibly cute. You are trying to stand up when we hold you. You have really strong legs! I would say that your favorite thing to do is nurse. Your eyes get so big and you can't help but smile. You are nursing every 2 hours or so now.
