Attachment parenting works...who knew?

I get a lot of crap for parenting the way that I do. I hear things all the time like "He will never be independent from you." and "He'll be such a mama's boy."

Most of the time, it is from people who are genuinely concerned about Nathan's well-being and I appreciate their input. Sometimes, it is from people who think that I am doing things wrong and just love to point that out.

Well, I am here to tell you, that attachment parenting works.

My three year old son now RUNS into preschool and yells "Bye Mom!". Clearly, this child is not afraid to be away from me. Clearly, my years of staying home with him did NOT turn him into a clingy child. Clearly, I have done something right!

Kids who are parented this way are just as (if not more) independent than kids who aren't parented this way! Nathan just has the confidence that I will always be there for him, so it's ok to run into preschool.

It is a proud moment for me. I'm so happy that he loves school. I feel like I have given him a great start to his life of learning.

Way to go Cosmo!

Comsopolitian Magazine finally reports the facts about circumcision! Here is the link.

For those wondering:

Only 33% of baby boys last year were circumcised. Which means, that when my kids are old enough to understand, intact will be the majority!!

Bet all those "locker room" argument moms are just loving that! (By locker room argument moms, I mean those parents that are circumcising so that he won't be made fun of in the locker room.)

Letters to my sons

Dear Gavin,

It is August and it is hot! Today you are 7 months old! Growing every day and such a sweet boy!

Lots of new things has happened this month. You are still army-crawling all over the house. But you have gotten much faster! You are much happier now that you are able to move around! You can make it across the house in no time. You love crawling towards Mama and climbing up for me to hold you. You love using Kai as a obstacle course. You crawl all over him! You have also gotten two teeth this month. Your two bottom teeth came in a week apart. It was a very unhappy time for you. You also got your first ear infection. We took you to the doctor and got you medicine. You didn't like the taste of that. You aren't really all that thrilled about solid foods either. You would much rather have Mama. You are nursing every 3 hours or so now. The teeth have made that interesting to say the least! You are much more vocal now. You like to grunt and scream when you don't get your way. You follow Mama all over the house and cry when you can't find me.

7 months in and I think it is just more fun everyday. I love watching you interact with Kai. You two boys are such a joy to me.

Love,

Mama

Dear Kai,

Today you are 7 months old!! Time flies when you are having fun! You are still Mama's little cuddlebug!

Big news this month! You have started to army-crawl all around the house. You have this really cute way of moving that makes me smile. You keep your right arm straight and pull forward with the left side of your body. You crack me up because you look like a little wiggleworm going down the hallway. You and Gavin are all over the place. You boys are always so happy to see each other. Well, except when Gavin crawls over you. You get really mad at him! You continue to do so well on solid foods. You will eat anything we give you. You get really frustrated when we can't get it in fast enough! It is so cute. You wait with your mouth open the whole time. Your favorites seems to bananas and applesauce. But you love veggies just as much. You nurse every three hours still. It is your favorite time of day for sure. You are always happy to see me sit in my nursing chair. Your little eyes light up and you squeal with joy.

7 months has come and gone. Pretty soon, fall will be here. This time has just flown by with you boys. It is always hard work but you make it worth it.

Love you,

Mama

Another year has come and gone

My boys giving love on my birthday.

I'm old. The big 2-7 was this past weekend. Although really is any birthday big after 21?? Anyhoo, I had a lovely day. Got to go shopping, ALONE! Had cake and ate it too. Loved on three boys and a handsome hubby. All in all, not a bad way to spend the day.

Level 2, Day 27

It is day 27 of the 30 day shred! I should remark here that my shred will turn into a 40-45 day shred. I have had to take a couple days off here and there because of cranky babies. I also found that I got bored with the video so I have been mixing it up. Every other day I do the shred and in between I do some other video, yoga, abs, etc. I am in Level 2 of the shred right now (I waited quite a while to switch to Level 2 because Level 1 was really tough for me). I do notice that each passing day gets easier. Today I actually went back to level 1 just to see if I could get through it and it was so easy!! So my stamina is really improving!

I have lost around 3.5lbs so far which really isn't too bad.

I have lost a whole dress size!!! WOOOT!!! I can fit into the pants that I haven't worn in years!

I haven't taken my measurements yet. I think I will wait to do that until I have completed 10 days of each level.

The best part: I have kept up my motivation and it has completely changed how I view working out. On days that I can't do the shred, I feel lazy and just blah.

I'm really so excited!

It is World Breastfeeding week!

I thought I would share this picture of me nursing the babies. They are one week old in this picture. World Breastfeeding Week is so important! All sorts of events take place all over the world to promote breastfeeding as the natural way to feed babies. It gets the word out about how beneficial breastfeeding is and works to improve the rates of breastfeeding in all countries.
