Letter to my 6 year old boy

Dear Nathan,

Happy 6th birthday sweetheart!  What a wild and crazy 6 years it has been.  You have grown and changed so much, and I am so proud of you for all you have done this past year.

You have grown 3 inches this year!  You are currently 47 inches tall.  You have also gained 7.2 pounds and are up to 47.4lbs.  This puts you at the very top of the growth curve for your height (just like Daddy) and around the top middle for your weight.  Tall and skinny. :)

So much has happened it is hard to know where to start.  First of all, I'm writing this letter to you a bit late (around a week or so) because this week has been so busy!  You turned 6 on Mother's Day this year!  We had a wonderful day.  We took you to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate your birthday and Gav and Kai's newly potty skills!  We had your party the next day at a park.  It was such a fun day!  You had lots of friends from your class there and had an excellent time.  You got a new, bigger bike and love it!

This week was also very special because you graduated from Kindergarten!  You have worked so hard this year.  You are in the process of learning to read.  During Kindergarten this year, you have learned over 100 sight words and have read a total of 50 books!  You are beginning to understand Math and have really enjoyed computer lab.  You've made many friends and made so many strides in speech.  It is actually difficult to tell you had a speech delay at all.  Our biggest obstactle we are working on overcoming is your anxiety.  You have such high levels of anxiety (just like Mama) and we are really working on ways to help you with this.  You get better each day.

You are an amazing big brother.  You have helped Kai and Gavin learn how to use the potty!  You help them to go, remind them when it is time, and help them put a sticker on their sticker chart. You are the first one to clap for them when they get it right!

So another year has sped by, and at 6 years old, you are already such an amazing person.  I love you so much.  It is so fitting that your birthday fell on Mother's Day, as you are the reason that I became a mother in the first place.  Happiest of birthdays my sweet son.

Love,

Mom
