Interview update.

Well, my interview went really well. She was a really nice person and said that I could pretty much have the job if I wanted it. However, I don't.

The job was posted wrong and it is actually a 12 hour shift instead of an 8. I just can't be away from Nathan that long.

Not to mention the fact that this hospital is intervention crazy. Their C-section and induction rates are out of control. It was just ridiculous. I just don't want to be involved with that. I won't compromise everything I stand for just for a job.

Thanks for all the good thoughts. They worked, I just will say no to the offer.

Mama's going back to work!

Well, the time has come for me to return to work! I am a little sad but so excited about getting out of the house and working on my career again. I did go to college for 5 years to earn this degree, so I probably should use it! Anyway, I have an interview on Thursday for the perfect job! It is a part-time night shift position (11pm to 7am) in a Labor and Delivery unit in a nearby hospital. The hours are perfect. It would allow me to be home with Nathan during the day and be able to nurse him to sleep at night. Brandon would have to take over nighttime duty so hopefully Nathan will accept mama's milk in a cup or a bottle. I am sure that Daddy and Nathan will be just fine though.

I am hesitant about returning to Labor and Delivery because my experiences as a mommy have changed me. But I figure, it will probably help these mommies to have a nurse who is so supportive of breastfeeding. I can use my knowledge and passion to help get their nursing relationships off to a great start. :) I will let you all know how it goes on Thursday! Wish me luck!

Finally feeling better!

Nathan seems to be doing much better today. He slept better last night so I really hope that this cold is behind us. Not really much new to report here.

Mama's baby is sick!

Poor little guy has his first cold. He hasn't been sleeping well and is so congested. We went to the pediatrician today and said that his stuffiness could be caused by teething. Unfortunately there isn't much we can do for him. So Mama has been giving him extra cuddles and snuggle time. Thankfully we really love our doctor and he is so supportive and AP! Those are hard to come by around here.

Happy Anniversary!

I never share pictures of just the two of us. Here are some of my favorites.

Today is our four year anniversary of our first date. I can't believe that four years has gone by. We have done so much in those four years that but it still seems like just yesterday.

Our mutual friend Lauren thought that we would be perfect together. She gave Brandon my screenname and we started chatting. We talked easily and had a lot in common, so we agreed to meet on January 15, 2004. I had to rush home from classes that day to meet him at my apartment. I was so nervous and I knew that he was too. He pulled up in front of my house and I rushed out to greet him. He was so cute and sweet. The first words he said were "Can I have a hug?" And we have been together ever since. Three weeks after that we said "I love you". (I said it first!) A year after that he proposed. And six months after that we were married. Love at first sight.

Brandon- I love you so much sweetie. I have loved you since the very first kiss and I will love you until our last. Happy anniversary darling.

Letter to my eight-month old boy...

Dear Nathan,

January and a New Year has arrived and today you are eight months old. So many wonderful things happened in 2007, but are looking forward to the New Year too.

At eight months old you weigh around 22 pounds and are 30 inches tall. You are getting so big! You are off the charts for both weight and height! Mama is so proud. This past month has been so exciting and busy! You had your first Christmas and first New Year! Christmas was so exciting. It was wonderful to see our families and you really enjoyed unwrapping presents. New Year's wasn't as thrilling; we were all in bed by 9. :) Developmentally, you are growing and changing every day! You are finally able to sit by yourself. You still topple over sometimes when you get excited but you enjoy sitting and seeing the world. You have also began to reach for mama! It is so cute and sweet. You will put your hands up when I come near you or you will reach for me when Daddy is holding you. You are still trying to crawl. You are now scooting forward on your belly. You have also started to push up on your hands and knees. Soon enough you will be crawling all over the place! You have also started to eat more solid foods. You love peaches and applesauce. You don't love peas. Just like mama! You enjoy eating now and we try new foods everyday. I think that this is mostly because you got two teeth this past month! We have been waiting on those teeth to pop through!

You have changed so much this past month. It has opened Mama's eyes to how fast time is going. I just can't believe how much you have grown. Of course, Mama's heart has grown just as much. I love you so much sweet boy.

Always,
Mama

Nathan loves nursing!

In his "I love nummies" shirt!

I thought that I would share some sweet pictures of my baby boy and me. Nursing is such an important part of both of our lives. The intense bond that nursing has created for us is so wonderful. My deepest hope is that all women get to experience the joys of nursing.

Welcome 2008!

I thought I would go ahead and make my first post of the year! I am sure 2008 will bring great things to us all. However, for our family, it will be hard to top 2007! 2007 was such a wonderful, blessed year for us. The arrival of our miracle baby was perhaps the greatest joy I have ever known. He is just getting so big! Pretty soon we will be planning a first birthday party. I will cry for sure! So to start the New Year off right here are some resolutions that I have made for this year:

1.) Get caught up with scrapbooking. --I am actually doing really good on this one! I started a couple of days after Christmas and I am slowly catching up.

2.) Lose 5 lbs.--Hopefully this will be really easy! Nursing Nathan has made weight loss really simple for me this past year!

That is pretty much all I have for right now! Sounds really doable. :) Have a wonderful New Year everyone! And thanks for reading!
